Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
Regenerative, authentic travel experiences.
Why choose us?
We are a tour operator and an eco hotel. Every experience we sell, we run ourselves, with local guides and with the communities' permission.
The estate runs on solar power and we plant a tree in the Sierra Nevada for every booking.
Kogui and Arhuaco territory, with permission and local guidance. Part of what you pay for each tour goes straight to the community.
Every experience grows out of what already happens here every day: growing cacao and bananas, weaving mochilas, walking the Sierra.
Fruit and vegetables harvested at La Jorará, and Caribbean cooking made with ingredients from the region.
Where to stay
Not numbered rooms. Every unit has its own character: the one on the sand, the one on the headland, the one where you sleep to the sound of the waterfall.

Where it is
The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the highest coastal massif on earth: it rises from sea level to 5,775 metres in barely 42 kilometres. La Jorará sits in its foothills, right on the sea.
On clear mornings you can see the snow peaks from here. This is where the great Tayrona settlement rose in the ninth century, and Kogui, Wiwa and Arhuaco communities still walk its ancient road.

At km 62.5 on the Santa Marta – Palomino road, between Tayrona Park and Palomino, one hour from Santa Marta. It is 31 km from Tayrona Park, 6 km from the Don Diego River and 10 km from Palomino.
From Santa Marta airport it is 75 km, one hour twenty minutes. From Riohacha, 100 km and one hour forty-five. From Barranquilla, 160 km and three hours. From Cartagena, 300 km and five hours. We arrange private transfers if you need one.
Yes. We work with Kogui (Seyviaka, Mulkwakungui) and Arhuaco (Katanzama, weaving workshop) communities who open their territory to us. These are not displays staged for tourists: you enter the houses, share lunch, and part of the tour price goes straight to the community.
A room with private bathroom, welcome drink, breakfast, fruit harvested on the estate, exclusive beach and natural pools, WiFi in common areas, drinking water and a coffee station, parking, a guided nature walk and the planting of a tree in the Sierra Nevada.
La Jorará runs on solar power and has WiFi in the common areas. Mobile signal is intermittent. That is part of what makes the place feel the way it does.
The La Jorará units can be booked online with live availability. The rest of the portfolio and all experiences are confirmed over WhatsApp or by email. You can pay a 30% deposit to confirm, or the full amount, by bank transfer, credit card or online payment.
We reply on WhatsApp or by email, usually the same day. If you would rather book directly, the engine shows live availability for La Jorará.
