Tayrona Park: Cabo San Juan del Guía

Cabo San Juan del Guía is the postcard image of Tayrona National Park: two white-sand bays separated by a rocky headland with a lookout at its tip. Getting there means walking, and that is precisely the point.

The route starts at Cañaveral and follows trails through tropical dry forest and giant boulders, with the sea appearing and disappearing between the trees. You pass Arrecifes beach, rest at Arenilla and reach the natural pool, the only sector along that stretch of coast where swimming is safe. From there it is fifteen minutes to the Cabo.
